Job Description

The candidate will assist in the software architecture design, data management, workflows and implementation of a solution and associated analytics to the monumental challenges posed by optimizing electric grid planning in the face of evolving uncertain renewable sources, electric vehicles, and smart loads that are introducing new stochastics and transients the grid has never seen or been designed for. The problem involves O(1020) variables and can only be solved by the next generation of exascale (1018 operations/second) computers that will be delivered early in the next decade. The successful candidate will interact closely with power engineers, optimization experts, and high performance computing specialists that are part of a three-lab (PNNL, ANL, NREL) collaboration being led by PNNL.
