Job Description

- This position will support projects involved in the design and analysis of components utilized in nuclear applications and nuclear non-proliferation. Additionally, the position will support nuclear regulatory work through the evaluation of submitted technical reports.

- This position is responsible for interfacing with internal customers, presenting research results to the technical community, planning work, developing teams, executing work scope, and preparing quality deliverables on time. The incumbent should recommend technical approaches within their responsibility area, advise project and task management and contribute to project proposals for future work.

- This position will be expected to work with non-sensitive, sensitive, and classified information as appropriate for individual projects. The person in this position must recognize and accept that they will be working in technical areas associated with topics related to the National Security of the United States.

- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of CASMO, WIMS or other lattice physics codes

- Demonstrated experience with thermal hydraulic analysis codes such as RELAP

- Knowledge of and experience with programming in FORTRAN and/or general programming skills

- Calculations and evaluations related to nuclear power plant licensing

- Also responsible to independently complete recurring assignments, exercise limited judgment on work details, and make preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years experience or a Master's degree with 5 years experience.

Must be a technical expert who selects and widely applies principles, theories and concepts in a major field of specialization.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD degree plus 3 years of related work or educational experience.

This position requires the ability to obtain a federal security clearance in a timely manner. Which requires:

* U.S. Citizenship

* Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.

* Drug Testing: All Security Clearance (L or Q) positions will be considered by the Department of Energy to be Testing Designated Positions which means that they are subject to applicant, random, and for cause drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).
