Job Description

The Operational Systems Directorate (OSD) is an indispensable partner with Research & Development in the achievement of PNNL’s mission and provides facility operations; environmental health, safeguards & security; and project management support. The OSD includes more than 650 staff working in 3 directorates supporting PNNL’s research mission.

The Operations Support & Integration Manager leads a diverse team responsible for the development and implementation of fundamental operational processes supporting execution of the OSD mission, including: performance assessment and analysis, document and records management, operational training, and management of the directorate IT portfolio.

- Establishes and deploys sound, consistent, and efficient OSD-level processes and procedures associated with operations and program management.

- Leadership of select programs/processes with broad applicability to OSD (e.g., Director’s Safety Operations Council, OSD Subject Matter Expert standards and qualifications, Laboratory Operations Supervisor Academy).

- Establishes strategic plans and objectives.

- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the organization and external industry trends.

- Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers.

- Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several managers within the organization. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree plus 12+ years of relevant experience; OR, a Master's degree plus 10+ years of relevant experience. Typical related management experience should include, initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing processes.

Desired Experience:

- Management of projects with diversified cross-functional project teams and/or building teams that may be geographically and culturally disperse.

- Demonstrated ability in recognizing and responding to potential barriers and opportunities that migrate risk and increase the success of projects.

- Experience in influencing positive change, promoting the advancement of project management execution through process improvement and mentoring, and demonstrating effective conflict resolution skills and leadership to achieve business goals.

- Recognized as a leader that manages complex multi-year projects and initiatives.
