Job Description

The Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has a position available to support technology development efforts related to mass spectrometry-based proteomic analyses. The research involves the development of proteomics technologies and methodologies to achieve increased measurement sensitivity, depth of proteome coverage, and analytical throughput. The candidate will initially focus on developing multidimensional separations for achieving broad proteome coverage from small samples. Hands-on experience with biological sample preparation, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, LC separations and/or CE separations is required, and data analysis expertise will be considered as a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams of researchers, be highly self-motivated, and have strong communication skills. The successful candidate is expected to assist and lead the preparation and presentation of papers, posters, reports, etc. Additionally, the successful candidate will use project management systems at PNNL, maintain an accurate laboratory notebook and adhere to Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) Operations and security requirements and directorate/group policies.

This is a project hire with a tentative end date of September 30, 2018.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. degree with 2-3 years of experience, M.S. with 0-2 years of experience, or a Ph.D.

• Strong organization and communication skills are needed to work efficiently in a team environment and to effectively demonstrate project success.

• Background in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or closely related fields is required.

• Expected to contribute professionally, building a professional reputation for technical expertise.

• Fully applying and interpreting standard theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or closely related fields.
