Job Description

This is a journeyman electrician position that perform all types of electrical work such as layout of construction wiring, installation and maintenance of complicated electrical equipment, including switchgear, distribution and control equipment. Will install, calibrate and maintain highly complex instruments, control systems and related equipment used in the Laboratory. Perform preventative maintenance routines from schedules. Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting. Perform any assigned electrical work of lesser skill; may direct others.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent required. Preference given to graduates of a formal apprenticeship program, otherwise fully qualified journeyman with a minimum of 2 years experience at the journeyman level.

Preferred Qualifications

Must have the necessary education, training, technical knowledge, and experience to perform troubleshooting, soldering, and repairing equipment to component level.

Completion of a two-year electronics program at an accredited institution/technical school or equivalent military training preferred.

Two or more years experience in electronics diagnosis and repair in digital and analog electronics.

Must be able to read schematic drawings and be proficient with the use of test equipment (such as an oscilloscope, digital volt meter, pulse generators, power supplies, etc.) to troubleshoot, isolate and repair instrument problems at the individual component level in a timely manner.

Must be able to perform repairs to a high degree of craftsmanship

This is a bargaining unit position and will be under the Battelle/HAMTC Labor Contract. As a condition of employment the staff member will be required to join the appropriate union affiliated with the Hanford Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) after 30 days of continuous service, and pay union dues or pay agency fees to such union in lieu of joining.
