This position will develop technical solutions for client needs including: information assurance, intrusion prevention, systems & vulnerabilities, and information system security.

Job Description

The Control Systems Engineer will support internally and sponsor funded cyber security research projects in developing solutions for a variety of cyber, network, and host security problems related to SCADA/ICS systems. These are complex problems that must be solved through creativity, effective design, decomposition, and implementation on a variety of projects. Examples include assessing and evaluating various control systems, working with commercial and open source security tools to meet the needs of current and next generation defensive technologies, or writing technical report documents of cyber security approaches. Programming and scripting tasks should be expected as well. The incumbent will be expected to work in groups or independently for significant periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires BS degree and at least 5 years’ experience, MS degree and at least 3 years’ experience.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in computer science, electrical engineering or related field.

Preference will be given to candidates that maintain a current security clearance.

This position requires the ability to obtain a federal security clearance in a timely manner. Which requires:

* U.S. Citizenship

* Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.

* Drug Testing: All Security Clearance (L or Q) positions will be considered by the Department of Energy to be Testing Designated Positions which means that they are subject to applicant, random, and for cause drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).

Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for 12 consecutive months can be demonstrated.
